Updated Version
The original guidance only mentioned the first two years of ownership. Correspondence with HMC & Intrawest prompted the change below, clarifying the significant increase in charges from Year 3 onwards, at the bottom of the page.
In addition to the payment methods described below, it is also very straightforward to pay on-line, as Kevin Free describes in this posting.

3. What do you have to pay?
- "Communal" (1) - This tax is put to a vote every year to determine if new owners benefit from an exemption. This exemption is possible only for the first two years unless voted otherwise by the commune of Bourg Saint Maurice.
- "Departemental" (2) - For the first two years, you are exempt from this tax.
- "Regional"(3) - For the first two years, you are exempt from this tax.
- "Ordure Ménagère" (4) - After payment, this is reimbursed by the hotel operator if you have signed a commercial lease (this excludes classical owners).
FOR THE THIRD YEAR THE COMMUNAL, DEPARTEMENTAL AND REGIONAL ARE TO BE PAID BY THE OWNER OF THE APARTEMENT.
Note : For owners with a commercial lease, the collection of household waste is payable by the property manager, and will therefore be paid back to you.
THIS TAX MUST BE PAID BEFORE THE DEADLINE STATED ON THE PROPERTY ASSESSMENT NOTICE (SEE EXAMPLE ABOVE).
A PENALTY CHARGE OF 10 % OF THE TOTAL AMOUNT WILL BE APPLIED IF PAYMENTS ARE NOT MADE BEFORE THIS DATE.
